Have you ever considered a working holiday in the UK, where you can learn, earn and explore all at the same time?

The flexible nature of live-in care means we can offer short work placements with blocks of time off in between for travel. The wages are good and between travels, whilst you’re working, your accommodation and food are paid for – so everything you earn can fund your next round of exploring!

What is live-in care?

Live-in care is round the clock care, whereby you’ll live in a client’s home, assisting them with day-to-day activities, including personal care, help to get in and out of bed, light housework and driving.

At Origin, we only care for adults who are living with a spinal injury – this means our clients are mostly busy, sociable adults, who need you around to give them the spontaneity and freedom they desire.

You can read more about the role of a live-in carer with us, here.

What are the working hours?

You’ll live in a client’s house during your assignment with them, usually for 1-2 weeks at a time. In between assignments you won’t be working at all – meaning you can travel as often and as far as you like between clients.

We can work with you to find flexible working patterns that suit your lifestyle, as well as our clients needs.

How much will I be paid?

All of our carers start on £735 per week*. We’ll also cover the cost of all the food and drink you need whilst you’re living with a client, and we won’t ask you to pay any rent or mortgage contributions, either. This means absolutely everything you earn can be spent on your travels.

*Equivalent to around AUD $1,409.53 / NZD $1,409.53 / CAD $1,272.32

Do I need prior training?

No! We have developed our own, specialist and highly focussed training course, which will make sure you can confidently handle all the unique challenges being a live-in carer might throw at you. It’s considered the leading course in the UK of its kind, so you’re in very safe hands! Read more about this, here.
